ESTEPONA
In tegenstelling tot sommige resorts aan de Costa del Sol is Estepona trouw gebleven aan haar vissersdorp roots en heeft het de typische Andalusische sfeer bewaard. De gemeente strekt zich uit over meer dan 21km langs de Middellandse Zee en omvat enkele van de beste en rustigste stranden aan de Costa del Sol. Estepona beschikt ook over spectaculaire landschappen, waaronder de Los Reales bergen in het noorden. De hoogste resort piek ligt op 1.449m boven zeeniveau, een van de hoogste in de provincie. Deze bergen zijn de thuisbasis van de uiterst zeldzame Pinsapo pijnboom.
Estepona stad heeft in de afgelopen jaren een uitbreiding gehad. Het staat nu hoog in de lijst qua mooiste resorts aan deze zijde van de Costa del Sol. Veel straten zijn alleen bestemd voor voetgangers en zijn geflankeerd met witgekalkte huizen versierd met kleurrijke geraniums.
De strandboulevard strekt zich uit over enkele kilometers. Je kunt heerlijk wandelen langs de Blauwe Vlag stranden van de stad. Aan de westkant van de stad ligt Estepona Marina, de thuisbasis van de vissersvloot en van winkels en restaurants, evenals een zondag markt. Estepona heeft uitstekende voorzieningen en faciliteiten, waaronder gezondheidscentra, privé-ziekenhuizen, scholen (onder andere Colegio San José, die meestal bovenaan de lijst van de beste scholen van Andalusië staat) en sportcentra.
ESTEPONA
Unlike some resorts on the Costa del Sol, Estepona has stayed true to its fishing village roots and has retained its typical Andalusian atmosphere. The municipality stretches for more than 21km along the Mediterranean Sea and includes some of the best and quietest beaches on the Costa del Sol. Estepona also boasts spectacular scenery, including the Los Reales mountains in the north. The highest resort peak is at 1,449m above sea level, one of the highest in the province. These mountains are home to the extremely rare Pinsapo pine tree.
Estepona town has undergone expansion in recent years. It is now high on the list of the most beautiful resorts on this side of the Costa del Sol. Many streets are pedestrian only and are flanked by whitewashed houses adorned with colourful geraniums.
The beach promenade stretches for several kilometres. You can stroll along the city's Blue Flag beaches. On the western side of the town is Estepona Marina, home to the fishing fleet and to shops and restaurants, as well as a Sunday market. Estepona has excellent amenities and facilities, including health centres, private hospitals, schools (including Colegio San José, which usually tops the list of the best schools in Andalusia) and sports centres.
