In tegenstelling tot sommige resorts aan de Costa del Sol is Estepona trouw gebleven aan haar vissersdorp roots en heeft het de typische Andalusische sfeer bewaard. De gemeente strekt zich uit over meer dan 21km langs de Middellandse Zee en omvat enkele van de beste en rustigste stranden aan de Costa del Sol. Estepona beschikt ook over spectaculaire landschappen, waaronder de Los Reales bergen in het noorden. De hoogste resort piek ligt op 1.449m boven zeeniveau, een van de hoogste in de provincie. Deze bergen zijn de thuisbasis van de uiterst zeldzame Pinsapo pijnboom.
De strandboulevard strekt zich uit over enkele kilometers. Je kunt heerlijk wandelen langs de Blauwe Vlag stranden van de stad. Unlike some resorts on the Costa del Sol, Estepona has remained true to its fishing village roots and has retained its typical Andalusian atmosphere. The municipality stretches over more than 21km along the Mediterranean Sea and includes some of the best and quietest beaches on the Costa del Sol. Estepona also boasts spectacular landscapes, including the Los Reales mountains in the north. The highest resort peak is at 1,449m above sea level, one of the highest in the province. These mountains are home to the extremely rare Pinsapo pine tree.
The beach promenade stretches for a few kilometres. You can walk along the city's Blue Flag beaches. On the west side of the city is Estepona Marina, home to the fishing fleet and home to shops and restaurants, as well as a Sunday market. Estepona has excellent facilities, including health centers, private hospitals, schools (including Colegio San José, which is usually at the top of Andalusia's list of best schools) and sports centers.
